Anu Duo's Choreography, A Reflection of Life

Anu Duo's Choreography, A Reflection of Life

By: Y. Subowo

ANU DUO's choreography is inspired by the Javanese philosophy of ”Kiblat Papat Lima Pancer“ which has to do with Microcosm and Macrocosm or in Javanese called Jagad Cilik and Jagad Gedhe. In jagad cilik, humans have two aspects, namely Lahiriah and Batiniah. Humans are expected to be able to control emotions and lust in order to purify the inner aspect and reunite with the Creator. Achieving unity with the Creator means seeking order, namely harmony with Jagad Gedhe. Kibalat Papat Lima Pancer as a Javanese philosophy is one of the manifestations of the Mandala concept. This view is also called the “world of time”, meaning the classification of four dimensions of space patterned in the four cardinal directions with one center. The four factors are earth/soil, water, fire and wind. The fifth pancer is the human self.
This source of inspiration is used as an idea for dance creation that is transformed into a choreography. Of course, through various approaches and creativity in realizing a form of dance performance. The title “ANU DUO” is a problem in life What? Anu means something that is not yet clear, while Duo is two elements of life (good-bad, male-female, day-night and so on).
The concept of this choreography departs from the Javanese Dance Tradition, both the elements of motion and the sense of motion and spirit that exist in the Javanese Dance Tradition. The development of traditional motion motifs includes; Power-Space-Time with a creative and imaginative touch. There are many ways and approaches in developing traditional dance, because traditional art is an inexhaustible source of inspiration. ”Endless Tradition” which can be packaged in any form of performing arts and any type / genre of art.

The choreography and music by Y. Subowo was danced by Ayu Permata Sari, Putra Jalu Pamungkas, Irwanda Putra Rahmandika, Widi Pramono, and Wisnu Derawan.
