Rona Kreasi Kampus TVRI Yogyakarta

The Dance Study Program once again showed its existence in developing the potential of performing arts in the academic environment through strategic collaboration with TVRI Yogyakarta in the program Rona Kreasi Kampus. This activity is part of an effort to strengthen the synergy between higher education institutions and public media in advancing Indonesian arts and culture.

Through this collaboration, students and lecturers from the Dance Study Program are given the space to perform excellent choreographic works that promote local cultural values while showing the creativity of the younger generation in the world of contemporary and traditional dance. In the show Rona Kreasi Kampus, The public is presented with a variety of dance performances that reflect the spirit of innovation, choreographic research, and cultural preservation which is the main focus of the Dance Study Program.

Yogyakarta Style Dance Workshop with Students of Warren Wilson College, North Carolina

On the date of May 15, 2025, Dance Study Program of Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta organizes traditional dance workshop Yogyakarta style which was attended by students from Warren Wilson College, Swannanoa, North Carolina, USA. Located at Pendhapa Dance Study Program ISI Yogyakarta, The event is part of a cultural visit and art exchange program aimed at introducing the rich Javanese dance tradition to the international community.

In a spirited and family-like atmosphere, participants were introduced to the basics of Yogyakarta-style classical dance techniques, including the introduction of hand gestures (slash), floor patterns (galeman), and body ethics in Javanese dance tradition. This workshop was guided directly by lecturers and classical dance practitioners from the Dance Study Program of ISI Yogyakarta who are experienced in cross-cultural dance education.

The enthusiasm of the Warren Wilson College students was evident during the workshop process. They not only learned dance techniques, but also understood the philosophical context and values contained in each movement. Through direct interaction with ISI Yogyakarta teachers and students, this activity became a space for deep and meaningful cultural dialog.

This workshop activity strengthens ISI Yogyakarta's role as an art education center that is active in building bridges between cultures through performing arts. In addition, this moment is part of cultural diplomacy that strengthens academic and cultural relations between Indonesia and the United States.

By organizing this workshop, it is hoped that the understanding and appreciation of Indonesian traditional dance will expand in the global realm, while strengthening the position of dance as an educational and communicative tool across nations.

Jakarta State University Student Visit and Workshop of Golek Wiraga Rini Dance at ISI Yogyakarta Dance Study Program

ISI Yogyakarta Dance Study Program received an academic visit from the students of Jakarta State University (UNJ) in the framework of cooperation activities between art education institutions, which was also filled with implementation of the Golek Wiraga Rini Dance workshop, a work of creation Ms. Jiyu Wijayanti, which was specially performed by Mrs. Winarsi Lies Apriani.

This activity took place in a warm and interactive atmosphere, located in the dance studio of the Dance Arts Study Program at ISI Yogyakarta. In this workshop, UNJ students not only learned the form of motion and technique in Golek Wiraga Rini Dance, but also explored a deep understanding of the aesthetic and philosophical values that underlie its creation.

Tari Golek Wiraga Rini is one of the important works in the treasures of Yogyakarta style women's dance, which carries subtlety, elegance, and strength of character through expression and movement dynamics. Through the guidance of Ms. Lies, the workshop participants were invited to appreciate the body shape, taste, and accuracy of wirama in a distinctive artistic approach.
