Dance Department Lecturer and Alumni Win Dance Film Competition in France

The Dance Film “Twilight Chants” won the best film award selected by the committee in the 2022 Choreo Dance Film Festival (CDFF) screened at Escape Municipal Georges Conchon, Clermont-Ferrand France. CDFF is a dance film platform organized by alumni of Choreomundus, an Erasmus Mundus master's program that studies dance practice and knowledge. CDFF promotes the diversity of dance through film and media. This year was the first time CDFF focused on climate crisis and humanitarian issues.

“Twilight Chants” is a work by Galih Suci Manganti, S.Sn, M.A. (Lecturer) and Joko Sudibyo, S.Sn (Alumni). This work is an experimental work that raises the spirit of the people of Yogyakarta in facing the pandemic. The focus of the work is centered on Batik and Gamelan, which are intangible cultural heritage, so that “Twilight Chants” is also a medium for promoting Indonesian culture in the international arena.

Besides Galih Suci Manganti and Joko Sudibyo, this work is supported by Bagas Kurniaji as film editor and photography, Dimas Adinata Raharja as composer, and Joko Fernando as fashion stylist. This dance film is performed by 5 (five) dancers namely Joko Sudibyo, Galih Suci Manganti, Risca Putri, Ratri Ikha, and Dahana Murpratama.
