ISI Yogyakarta Dance Students Perform at Prambanan Jazz 2025: Continuing Artistic Collaboration with KLa Project

“Thank you ISI Yogyakarta for presenting three of its best dancers, thank you also to Mrs. Rina who has guided me” said Lilo loudly on the Prambanan Jazz stage that night. Three students of the Dance Department of ISI Yogyakarta again showed their work on the national stage by performing at the Prambanan Jazz concert on the second day of July 5, 2025. They-Faradibha Putri A, Maharani Nur Asri, and Novia Sapta-danced to a song called “Lagu Baru” by the legendary KLa Project, as part of a special performance that combined popular music and performing arts.

This performance is a continuation of the creative collaboration between ISI Yogyakarta and KLa Project that began at KLa Project's 35th Harmoni Cahaya concert at the Indoor Tennis Court Senayan, Jakarta, on October 31, 2023. In the concert, as many as 20 ISI Yogyakarta dance students were involved in the choreography of “Lagu Baru”, creating a harmony between dance movements and KLa's musical power that has been recognized across generations.

As a form of seriousness and sustainability of cooperation, at the end of 2023 the Department of Dance and the Faculty of Performing Arts ISI Yogyakarta established an MoA (Memorandum of Agreement) and Implementing Arrangement (IA) with senior musician Ramulo Rajadin (Lilo) from KLa Project. This collaboration aims to open a space for synergy between art education and the creative music industry in Indonesia.

The involvement of students in a big stage like Prambanan Jazz is not only a place to showcase artistic abilities, but also to strengthen professional networks, expand the space for expression, and emphasize the active role of ISI Yogyakarta in the contemporary performing arts landscape in the country.
