Exploration of Cooperation: TNUA Visit to ISI Yogyakarta Dance Department

Yogyakarta, July 28, 2025 - ISI Yogyakarta's Dance Department receives an informal visit from a culturalist and dance critic Sal Murgiyanto with lecturers and students from Taipei National University of the Arts (TNUA), Taiwan. This meeting was the first step to explore the possibility of institutional cooperation between ISI Yogyakarta and TNUA in the field of performing arts.

The visiting group consisted of two TNUA lecturers.Lin Yalan (Dance Department) and Lin Yuchen (Department of Theater)-as well as several master's program students who come from various artistic backgrounds, such as choreography, music composition, and new media art. They come to Yogyakarta to explore the hands-on experience of learning about dance, gamelan, and traditional Javanese vocals, It also broadens their knowledge of Javanese culture both in the academic realm and the palace environment.

In a warm and open atmosphere, the meeting discussed the possibility of future collaboration in the form of student exchange programs, joint workshops, and collaborative research in the field of performing arts. One of the main ideas that emerged was the importance of bringing together cross-cultural curatorial perspectives and opening up networking spaces between international art communities.

This visit is expected to be the beginning of a closer partnership between ISI Yogyakarta and TNUA, as well as expanding the horizons of students and lecturers in building cross-country art dialog.
