The Completion of the Duties of Prof. Dr. I Wayan Dana: A Long Dedication to the World of Dance and Art Education

Yogyakarta – An atmosphere of emotion and respect marked the retirement ceremony for Prof. Dr. I Wayan Dana, an academic and dance artist who has made significant contributions to the development of art education, particularly within the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta. This event served as a moment of appreciation for his dedication, service, and long journey in the academic and artistic worlds.

During his tenure as a lecturer and professor, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Dana was known as a consistent figure in developing dance scholarship, through education, research, and community service. His contributions not only influenced students and the academic community but also the broader development of Indonesian performing arts.

The series of events was warm and meaningful through the performance of the “Sekar Pudyastuti” Dance from the Dance Department of ISI Yogyakarta, the “Pangelembar Keras” Mask Dance by Francis El Nathan Hardianto, the “Janger Abhinaya” Dance created by Ni Kadek Rai Dewi Astini, M.Sn along with Dr. Nyoman Cau Arsana, S.Sn., M.Hum, a comedy performance called “Double S”, to an emotional peak when Prof. Dr. I Wayan Dana performed the “Baris Solo” Dance which represents his long journey of dedication and love for dance.

In the series of activities, a book poster signing was also held. Embroidering Movement, Dancing the Era as a symbol of the long journey of thought, work, and dedication of Prof. Dr. I Wayan Dana in the Indonesian performing arts world. The book represents his intellectual and artistic contributions throughout his career in academic and artistic communities.

For the Dance Department of ISI Yogyakarta, the retirement of Prof. Dr. I Wayan Dana is not merely a marker of the end of his formal service as a lecturer, but also a momentum to continue the exemplary values he has built over the years. His thoughts, works, and spirit of dedication will continue to live on through generations of students, alumni, and the future development of dance art education.
